Carrie Underwood, we wish you a belated Happy Birthday!
The country singer rose to fame after winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. Since then, the Oklahoma native has topped the charts, sold 58 million records and evolved from small town girl to style star.
To celebrate her 33rd birthday, we take a look back at her dramatic fashion evolution, from the high notes to looks that fell flat, starting with the latter.
Big hair, bigger jewelry was Carrie's motto from 2005-2007.
Vying for the win on American Idol (pre-stylist) Carrie was an 'All-American Girl' with a no-fuss approach to fashion in flared jeans and a pink asymmetrical camisole.
From her retro print dress to her long green necklace and knee-high boots, the singer was a sight — for sore eyes that is — sitting front row at the Baby Phat runway show in 2006. Her style goal at the Sony BMG Music Entertainment event in 2007 may have been bombshell, but it read bridesmaid. Not even her sling-back Louboutin's could have saved this bustled look.
By 2008, she traded in her denim and gaudy accessories for cocktail dresses and stilettos. At the 43rd Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, the star shimmied down the carpet in a Badgley Mischka sequin fringe number.
She shined at the American Music Awards in a metallic, one-shoulder mini by Theia and matching gold strappy sandals.
The Heartbeat singer accepted her CMT Artist of the Year award in a midnight blue Jenny Packham dress, Stuart Weitzman heels and Carla Amorim earrings.
As she topped the charts, Carrie's style became more sophisticated and refined.
In 2011, she took home three American Country awards, including Female Artist of the Year, wearing a Maria Lucia Hohan white A-line.
She shimmered on the 2012 American Country Awards red carpet in a Georges Chakra Couture shift dress and B Brian Atwood heels.
At the 47th Annual Country Music Awards in 2013, she showed her star power in a Ralph & Russo Haute Couture gown and Jimmy Choo sandals, complete with a glamorous side-swept 'do.
Putting pageant looks behind her and a baby on the way, Carrie rocked a Lorena Sarbu glittery gown at the 48th Annual CMA Awards in 2014.
A year later, the Almay spokesperson was a vision of beauty donning a peach Gauri & Nainika dress, flower rings by Pasqale Bruni, complete with flawless hair and makeup.
Looking better than ever at the 2016 Grammy Awards in a Nicolas Jebran black gown, Stuart Weitzman heels and a 48 carat diamond necklace by Jonathan Arndt, the former fashion newbie proved she's now country's reigning style queen.
