Steven Brown was arrested over claims he put GPS tracking devices on his wife's and her alleged lover's cars

    Businessman reportedly became suspicious of his wife last year
    He is accused of attaching GPS devices to her and her friend's cars
    The 51-year-old would be the first person prosecuted for such an offence

It is said that 51-year-old Mr Brown, who runs a concrete company in south London, became suspicious of his wife at the end of last year.

She and Mr Compton then found the GPS tracker devices under their cars last month and Mr Brown was questioned by police, The Sun reported.

A source told the paper that Mr and Mrs Brown, of Sutton, Surrey, have split up over the allegations and he is now seeing someone else.

An employee of Mr Brown's firm Easy Mix Concrete says the company director wants the problems with his soon-to-be ex wife to go away. 

The employee, who has worked at the company since its beginning, insisted the incident had been blown out of proportion.

He said: 'Mark [Compton] has been having an affair with Nichola, Steve's wife, since 2013.

'Steve hasn't done anything wrong, he wants it all to go away. I personally don't think he did it. Mark still lives with his wife as well, she's obviously not very happy.'

A neighbour of Mr Brown said of the split couple: 'They lived there for about three years, but I don't think Steve has lived there for about six months. 

'I think they have their divorce going through. I heard rumours about the other man, but I never saw him.'

A spokesman for Hampshire Police said: 'We have arrested a 51-year-old man from Sutton, on suspicion of stalking. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.'

A number of GPS tracking devices have gone on the market aimed specifically at suspicious husbands or wives.

Although nobody has been taken to court for tracking their spouse, legal experts advise users of the devices to get the permission of anyone they use them to track.
