Ex-porn star Bree Olson has revealed that she cannot leave the house for 'days to weeks at a time' for fear of how people will treat her in an emotional video about the prejudices she faces as a former adult film star.
The 29-year-old, who announced she had left the porn movie industry to pursue a career in mainstream films in 2011, said she is treated as if it says 'slut' on her forehead when she leaves the house, admitting that, as a result of her career, she really struggles to make new friends.
With tears streaming down her face, Bree, originally from Houston, Texas, said she wishes people would treat her as if she were 'a married registered nurse with 2.5 kids in Indiana' in the clip which was filmed for YouTube channel Real Women Real Stories.
Devastated: The 29-year-old tears up as she speaks about the way in which people judge her because of her past porn career
Regret: Bree claims she feels haunted by her past life as a porn star and sometimes does not leave the house because of people's prejudiced views of her
In the black and white video, entitled Bree Olson: Her Untold Story, the former porn star says: 'The words are something that I didn't expect to affect me in my everyday life, so when I go out I feel as if I'm wearing "slut" across my forehead.
'The names that people have called me, it's as if if you could take out those names and print them and put a ribbon around my whole body of all the names and things that people say to me on the internet, that's how I feel when I walk outside the door.
'I came from the adult industry but then I transitioned into the mainstream industry but I encountered a lot of issues with my transition and people not accepting me into the mainstream world.
'So I have really got into the point where there are days to weeks at a time where I don't leave my house because I don't feel like facing the world of what has been created out there for me.'
She says if she went back to the porn industry today she could make as much as $20,000 in a week but she said she hates having pictures of herself online so much that she still would not do it.
She says: 'I get so disappointed when I go out and I meet a new friend and then it turns out they don't want to be my friend anymore or I go out and you know, I don't know, I just hear things or witness things.
'It's really easier for me to stay inside my house and not put myself out there for hurt.
Struggling: Former porn star Bree Olson, pictured while she was still working in the industry, breaks down in an new YouTube video, in which she reveals the brutal impact her adult film career has had on her later life
Superstar: The adult film star experienced great success in the porn industry and even appeared on the cover of Playboy in August 2011, towards the end of her porn career
'I gave up between $30,000 and $60,000 a month and I could just go back to porn today and still make that.
'I could go back to porn and make $20,000 just in one week if I wanted to this week and I don't because that's how much I don't want my photos on the internet.
'People treat me as if I am a pedophile. They don't treat me like an ex-sex worker, they treat me like I would somehow bring damage to children.'
When asked how she would like to be treated, she bursts out laughing and then starts crying.
Tears rolling down her face, she says: 'That is so simple. I just think, I wish that people would treat me how they would treat a married registered nurse with 2.5 kids in Indiana, that's how I wish people would treat me.'
The interviewer then asks her 'how would that change your life if they treated you like that?'
In response she says: 'I would be so happy. I don't know. I never even thought about that before but it will never happen, that's probably why I don't think about it.'
Bree, who dropped out of university, abandoning her hopes of becoming a doctor, has claimed she wanted to be a porn star from a young age.
The actress, who was in a relationship with controversial actor Charlie Sheen, has performed in hundreds of adult movies and has appeared on the cover of Playboy magazine.
Heartbreak: In the video, Bree urges other women thinking about going into the porn industry to consider the long-term impact it will have
Wishful: Bree, who dated actor Charlie Sheen for several months until 2011, said she would like to be treated like 'a married registered nurse with 2.5 kids in Indiana'
She spoke out last year to reveal that she had tested negatively for HIV, after Charlie revealed that he had been diagnosed with the illness. She also attacked her ex for not telling her about his HIV status while they were dating - although it is unclear whether he was aware of the diagnosis during their time together.
In 2011 she announced her retirement from the industry and has since appeared in The Human Centipede Three, Director's Cut and last year starred in short movie Power/Rangers.
Explaining why she urges young women not to get involved in the porn industry, she said no matter how much money porn stars earn they are tarnished with the 'sex worker' label forever.
'I've learnt that there are some things that no matter how open-minded you are, other people will never be and that you shouldn't do and I send a very strong message to young girls "don't do porn" because as much, I understand it, you want to embrace your sexuality, you want to say "screw the man" or whatever, I can do whatever I want with my body, you are just going to have a life of crap in front of you and dealing with people and companies,' she says in the video.
'And you know companies are allowed to turn you away for work because of anything they want and they have morality clauses, you can never work with children after you do porn, you can never work in the medical field after you do porn and these are things that teenage girls don't think about.
'You think that you're a teenager, it's fun, you're making money and that's a truth, it is and there's nothing wrong with porn but how people treat you for the rest of your life, it's not worth it.'
Calling for people to respect sex workers and women, she says it is long overdue.
She says: 'I really think that it's time for people to respect sex workers and respect women in total, absolutely.'
