A serial rapist was killed by a runaway trailer while distracted by pornography on his cell phone in Tennessee – just half a mile from where he terrorized numerous women in the 1990s.
Kevin Jordan, 55, was walking along the sidewalk just a block from his home in Memphis when the 15-foot trailer smashed into a fence and struck him in the 3700 block of Park Avenue on Wednesday, authorities said.
Witnesses said police told them the convicted felon had been watching pornography on his phone – and had failed to notice the vehicle coming at him until it was too late.
‘I think it is ironic that he was watching porn,’ Dr Peter Trimble, a dentist whose office is located near the spot where Jordan was killed, told WBC-TV.
‘This dealt with some of the crimes he may have perpetrated.’
Jordan - who was known as the ‘Highland Street Rapist’ - was sentenced to 25 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to 20 felonies in 1994.
These included nine counts of rape, one attempted rape, as well as four robberies and three burglaries.

He had raped four women after breaking into their homes – two in 1991 and two the following year – while he was out on parole after being convicted of a similar rape and burglary conviction, the New York Daily News reports.
But he returned to Memphis when he was released early in 2010 for good behavior.
His most recent brush with the law was an arrest for indecent exposure two years ago.
He allegedly exposed his genitals and started masturbating to a woman who was looking outside her office window – but ran away when she called police.
But Jordan’s fiancée Connie Harris says Jordan was actually urinating because he was on dialysis following a kidney transplant.
And despite his extensive criminal history, Harris insisted he had changed his ways.

‘It’s a big loss,’ she told WBC. ‘I love him. I still love him.’
But Shelby County Judge Chris Craft, who helped convict Jordan in 1994, doesn’t agree.
‘I just remember he was the scariest guy that I had ever prosecuted at the time,’ Craft told Fox13.
He added: ‘Kevin was a sexual predator. And for sexual predators, there’s just no cure for them.’
Craft described how Jordan would dress up in a suit and target elderly or young women in grocery stores, offering to help them with their bags.
He would follow them home from the stores on Highland Street between Summer Avenue and Park Avenue to get their addresses – just blocks from where he ultimately died.
Days later, he would return, break in and violently rape the women.
But while now, the law allows repeat sexual offenders to be sentenced to life in prison without parole, this was not the case in the 1990s, Craft added.
Police are investigating Wednesday’s incident. The driver pulling the trailer has not been charged.
