Big statement: Adele dedicated the first award of the night, for Best British Female Solo Artist, to fellow female musician Kesha at Wednesday night's BRIT Awards 2016

Her speech came after a New York Judge ruled that Kesha must continue to record with Sony despite allegations she was raped by a producer. Adele is currently the biggest and most profitable artist Sony has on its roster, having sold over 25million copies worldwide of her new album 25. Kesha released a letter to fans Wednesday saying; ''All I ever wanted was to be able to make music without being afraid, scared, or abused'. She also added; 'I would be willing to work with Sony if they do the right thing and break all ties that bind me to my abuser'

Support: Adele's speech came days after a New York Judge ruled that Kesha must continue to record with Sony despite allegations she was raped by a producer (above on Tuesday in LA)

Kesha just received some support from the biggest star in the recording industry - Adele. The British singer picked up the award for Best British Female Solo Artist at Wednesday night's BRIT Awards and dedicated her trophy to Kesha.

'To the other nominees, it’s an honor to be standing amongst you. I’d like to thank my management and record label for embracing the fact that I’m a woman and being encouraged by it,' said Adele at the start of her speech.

The 27-year-old then got a bit choked up as she added; 'And I would like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha.' Adele is currently the biggest and most profitable artist signed to Sony, the same label that last week won a court battle against Kesha when she tried to leave their artist roster because she claims she was raped and drugged by producer Dr. Luke.
