Fairytale: Marcus Rashford scored twice on his debut
Louis van Gaal last night revealed how Marcus Rashford scored twice on his Manchester United debut after getting a half-time pep talk.Rashford started because Anthony Martial injured his hamstring in the warm-up and the teenager’s double helped United fight back to reach the last 16 of the Europa League.
Delighted United boss van Gaal said: “He was unbelievable. In the first half, he ran too much to the sides.
“At half-time, I had to say to him that he should be within the width of the goal and he shall score. He got his first two goals, which was fantastic for him.”

Memphis Depay crowned one of his best displays for United with the
final goal and van Gaal hopes his performance will be a turning point in
his Old Trafford career.“I’m very happy for him,” he said. “He needs this kind of match. He played fantastic. He can play fantastic, so maybe it’s a turning point for him, you never know.
“I hope that with all my heart, but we have to wait and see and Arsenal is another level.”

Memphis Depay: Scored a brace on the night
United’s win was their biggest of van Gaal’s 19-month reign and the Dutchman claimed they played the attacking football the fans want to see.
“It was a great performance I think,” he said. “I think the fans enjoyed our attacking football because we started so well and we created so many chances.
“They scored the first time they crossed the halfway line and you might see a decline in confidence, but no, the spirit was so high.
“We continued our attacking football, with our spirit, and 5-1 looks easy, but it was not.”
Van Gaal claims Martial’s injury is not serious and he praised him for coming off when he felt his hamstring.
