Nigerian Govt Secure Release of 14-Year-Old Girl Kinapped And Forced Into Sharia Marriage by Muslim Man

News reaching us is that, Ese Oruru, the Fourteen-year-old Christian girl who was abducted and forced into an Islamic child marriage, is now in the custody of the Nigerian Authorities, eight months after she was kidnapped and it was first reported.

The kidnapper, Yinusa an adult Muslim male whose age is unknown, was a longstanding customer of Ese’s mother, Rose. The girl had been taken the teenager from the Christian South to Kano, in the predominantly Muslim part of the country, converted to Islam and forced into a sharia child marriage.

Her release followed the launch on Sunday of the “Free Ese” Campaign by launched by citizens of that country.  A local newspaper Punch which was in the fore front of the campaign wrote
"The success of the campaign and Ese’s release is down to the efforts by Nigerians who overcame the shock and anger the sordid story caused, demanded her release and spurred the relevant authorities into action."
The release of the teen from her captor’s comes a day after the campaign highlighted the determination of Nigerians who got to know about the shocking incident only on Sunday.

However, details of the plans by the Nigerian Authorities to return the teen home and the prosecution of those involved in this crime are still being expected.
