Aw! Perfect: The baby girl in her incubator

A mum described her newborn baby girl as "a little miracle" after she was born the size of a pint glass, with her head no bigger than a satsuma.
Lydia Hodgkinson was born 15 weeks early, weighing in at just 1lb 8oz. But despite fears the tiny girl wouldn't survive outside the womb, she is defying doctors to grow stronger every day.
Mum Maxine Steward praised her as the 'perfect miracle' as she continues to improve despite her dangerously early delivery .
Maxine, 24, said: "She's absolutely tiny and so fragile but she even looks like a little girl and she's so perfect."I'm so proud of how she hasn't let anything hold her back and is fighting with everything she's got."She gets stronger and stronger everyday, she really is a little miracle."

Maxine said: "I couldn't believe it. My waters broke completely by surprise but I knew exactly what was going on. "I didn't know how she was going to survive but my instinct told me she was going to be OK.
"It was a terrifying time but I was so happy to see her little face. As soon as I saw her, I just thought she was perfect."

Miracle: Defiant and ready to beat the odds

After being born on February 8, Lydia is now stable, but she is being carefully monitored in an incubator, where she is getting stronger every day. Maxine, who is already mum to two other children said: "She's had three blood transfusions but she's getting there, she's a real a real fighter". " You look at her and can't believe how a baby can be so small, but still so strong", she said. She wasn't breathing well. so they put her in a ventilator, but apart from that she is doing really good. "I'm spending almost every waking minute with her. I can't stop myself from from just sitting and watching her. She's so special."
