Ouch!!  that has got to hurt, talk about instant justice. Worse than any potential punishment that could have been meted out by the judicial system or a lynch mob.

A teenage would-be thief is in critical condition Friday night after having his arm ripped off while trying to rob a man at gunpoint.

The 17-year-old, who has not been named, met his victim, 39, in Brooklyn, New York, after offering to sell him a pair of Air Jordan sneakers over Craigslist.

But while the older man was sitting in his car, the teen walked up and put a gun through the window and attempted to rob him.

The driver then hit the gas pedal, according to the New York Daily News, dragging the youngster along and into a metal gate, where his arm was torn off.

Police said the teen had agreed to meet the motorist, 39, over Craigslist where the pair agreed a deal for a pair of Air Jordan sneakers (pictured, the scene in Brooklyn Friday)

Alex Saint Fleur, who lives nearby, told the paper: 'The guy ran him over. He got out, the driver said, "He’s trying to rob me. He’s trying to rob me."

'I saw the gun on the floor. The arm was in the floor near the gun.

'Everyone is screaming, "Come back, come back, your arm. You’re bleeding too much."'

According to witnesses the teen then tried to run on to a city bus to escape, covering in it blood, before running further up the street and collapsing.

However, as the driver was sitting in his car, the teen pulled a gun and put his arm through the window, attempting to rob him (pictured, the crashed car)

He was taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition, and may not survive, police sources said.

Cops said they found a box containing the Air Jordan sneakers, which range in price from $79 to $190, at the scene.
